Description
Fuchsia – Upright Type is a lovely and elegant example of Dr. Dain Tasker’s x-ray style photographs exploring the beauty of these plants through the translucent effect of x-raying the image. Dr. Dain Tasker was a radiologist and after he began working at Wilshire Hospital in Los Angeles he became intrigued with exploring photography through the machine and concepts he came to understand as a doctor. This photograph is from that early period in the 1930’s and is avant-garde in its experimental nature. Tasker was encouraged by Will Connell, a prominent photographer to pursue his interest and exhibit his work as a fine art photographer at various venues and salons for the Camera Pictorialists of Los Angeles.
