Stanley William Hayter British, 1901-1988

Overview

Hayter went on to become one of the most significant printmakers of the 20th century.  His Atelier 17 was legendary, in Paris and was frequented by every major artist of the time including Picasso and Miro.  During World War II he did come to New York City in exile.  His style was more in the surrealist and abstract bent so this early work is very surprising to the eye.
