Born in Kanda in 1925, Hajime Kato was a Japanese Modern & Contemporary painter. Initially pursuing a career as a competitive cyclist, Kato decided to fulfill his childhood dream of becoming a painter in 1958. Beginning in the early 1960s, and over a nearly four decade career, Kato developed his own style with artworks that were clearly identifiable as his own.
Kato’s artistic talents quickly gained recognition in Paris, and he achieved acclaim as distinguished Japanese artist. Throughout his career, the artist held more than 15 solo exhibitions, showcasing his works at esteemed venues including the Gallery R.Creuse in 1966, the Villan & Galanis Gallery in 1976 or the Osaka-Forme Art Gallery from 1967 to 1982.
Even after his passing, the International Art City in Paris honored Kato’s legacy by organizing a retrospective exhibition of his work in 2006, further highlighting his artistic contributions.
