Description
Reunion was done in 1985 when Condo was splitting his time between Paris and New York. He was collaborating and spending time with Keith Haring and this was also the year he did his significant work Dancing with Miles which he presented at the Whitney Biennial of 1987. This work demonstrates the best of Condo when he draws as opposed to his very finished oils. As with many artists, the life that comes to a work that employs some drawing often has an animation and life to it that is irrepressible. And Reunion has an irrepressible feel to it as the dog or animal like heads being treated anthropomorphically are highly expressive and well done. The scrolling motif in the background also lends a decorative an whimsical feel to the work on paper. Add to the fact that it has a torn edge, it makes it feel as though Condo dashed this off in a spirit of light heartedness.
