Harris spent many of her formative years outside the United States, much of it spent in Germany and Italy, experiencing these years as a “third culture kid”. Whether it was race, language, nationality or culture she adapted and took interest in Mythology and myth making, which makes sense when one is struggling to find a way to process this in a creative way.
Ascension is from Harris’s 2021 body of work Celestial Bodies. It’s a moving body of work that stems from many facets of her life and experiences. It’s a multi-media work that combines photography, digital printing, acrylic painting and drawing as well as gold leaf application. She works in very small editions for these as this is 1 of 2 with an AP.
